I've been hearing this  remix everywhere I go.
I love it!

I read a lot...
So I've decided that soon it is time to invest in a reading lamp.
I am happily researching options, and I have a crush on this Faroles red table lamp from CB2. Somehow the lamp vaguely reminds me of both shadow puppets and Genet's The Screens...

Rebecca: I never told you about that letter Jan Crofut got from her minister when she was sick.  He wrote Jane a letter and on the envelope the address was like this: It said: Jane Crofut; The Crofut Farm; Grover's Corners; Sutton County; New Hampshire; United States of America.

George: What's funny about that?

Rebecca: But listen, it's not finished: The United States of America; Continent of North America; Western Hemisphere; the Earth; the Solar System; the Universe; the Mind of God-that's what is said on the envelope.

~ from Our Town by Thornton Wilder

I recently read in Teresa's Weekly Update that, "Wilder’s Our Town is the most produced play in American history, with a performance occurring at least once per day somewhere around the country."

Wow.  I wonder where it is performing today...

The website for Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant states:

"Our events mix the ingredients of fine food, drink, song, dance, text, spectacle, and most importantly: you.  As our guest, you will enter a lively and welcoming social environment and enjoy a five-course, home-cooked meal presented through exquisite performances.  In the world of Conni’s Restaurant, as in a turn of the century Parisian salon, artists rule and fascinating people come together to celebrate life, food and all that is good."
I was an honored guest last night at Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant,
and this was the delicious menu:

Foccacia* with ricotta**, honey, and pumpkin seeds

Cucumber gazpacho

Greenbean salad

Moussaka with lemony spinach-feta rice
layered eggplant, potato, cheese, spiced ground beef, and yogurt custard. Vegetarian option available.

Chocolate brownie*** topped with fresh blackberry compote and cream

It was awesome.
I am so happy that I went; it was a thought-provoking, hilarious, and memorable avant garde experience.  Go!  Now!  They have a dramaturg character, who will give you the legit definition of the avant garde! The event is happening Thursdays through Sundays through September 25th,  at the beautiful Irondale Center in Brooklyn.

The TCG Circle is definitely one of my favorite blogs.  So I was incredibly honored to recently write a piece for them.  Check out the interview with 2011 Visionary Leadership Award winner Martha Coigney HERE.

Alright, there are so many wonderful things going on I can barely keep track.

-Thursday night is the opening of  Lascivious Something.  Three of my friends are involved: the fantastic and graceful Shannon Fillion directs, my dear dramatug friend Jess Applebaum acts as the dramaturg, and it stars stunning Leemore Jacqueline Malka.

-Thursday night is also One Year Lease's reading of Life Without Me by Australian playwright Daniel Keene.  I saw a production of Keene's work at La Colline last summer; can't wait to hear this piece.

-Friday night I am going to my first ever Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant experience!

-Saturday night I am finally hitting up the very last bit of the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and seeing the final performance of Pig Iron's Twelfth Night or What You Will.

-And September 17th marks the beginning of Fiaf's fall festival!  Their website explains:

Crossing the Line is conceived as a platform to present vibrant new developments in artistic practices on both sides of the Atlantic. It is initiated, conceived, and produced by the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF)in partnership with leading New York cultural institutions.

My BA from Dickinson College is in French and Theatre, so I couldn't be more thrilled to check out the wonderful offerings at this festival- get your tickets now!

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow.

-The Fantasticks

I overheard this the other week in Chelsea Market.

"When I talk to her, I feel like I'm talking to a hologram."

My writers group had a lot of fun using this as a prompt.  I hope it inspires-enjoy!

I will soon be investing in a new MacBook Air!!
I can't wait for a light laptop, and so I've been happily researching case options.  The pictures above are of the BookBook case, which cracks me up, and is definitely dramaturg chic.  I might have to invest in a case as well...
