Last week I went to Savage Beauty, the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met. So many beautiful pieces, and so well curated. Stepping into the exhibit is like stepping into another world. McQueen's work is highly theatrical ; and I found the exhibit creatively exhilarating. I was most inspired and delighted with McQueen's textural mash-ups. The dress above, VOSS, spring/summer 2001 is constructed of ostrich feathers and glass medical slides. I highly recommend going; this is the best exhibit I've seen since the fantastic Musée d'Orsay's Crime and Punishment exhibit in Paris. Go see Savage Beauty now, and go early! Those lines get long...but definitely worth the wait.
